A couple of weeks ago I was invited to attend the Scandi Design Tour 2017 together with a group of bloggers from Europe, organised by Fredericia Furniture and Georg Jensen.
On the first day we visited the new Frederica showroom where Thomas Graversen, second generation owner of the family business and his son Rasmus Graversen held a craftsmanship and history tour in the showroom.
The visit at Fredericia also included a meeting with a craftsman from Tränsjo Garveri who showed us how the leather of the iconic Spanish chair is carefulyl cut , smoothened and colored on the sides. The Spanish chair was designed by Børge Mogensen i 1958, the second chair he designed using a combination of solid wood and saddle leather forming the seat and back.
In the afternoon we visited design studio Space Copenhagen. The design duo consisting of Signe Bindslev Henriksen and Peter Bundgaard Rützou. They told us a bit about their visions, their design process and their experiences with designing the Swoon chair and Spine collection that they’ve designed for Fredericia Furniture. In the evening we had an amazing dinner on Fredericia Furniture’s rooftop and made our own coocktail with the new Georg Jensen Sky bar collection.
